Product description
Black Irish is the brainchild of David Pelham, founder of Dublin-based Darker Still Spirits Company.
David is an innovator and creator of alcoholic beverage formulas, his CV includes Boru vodka, Irish Mist and Baileys liqueurs. Black Irish contains 80% triple-distilled whiskey at the Great Northern Distillery, aged in heavily charred American oak barrels, and 20% O'Hara's stout. In other words, Black Irish is Irish whiskey "diluted" to bottle strength with Irish stout and seasoned with chocolate and spices, so it is neither whiskey nor beer. The presentation of the drink is very appealing to us - a dark glass bottle closed with an old-fashioned cork attached to a thick wire.
Nose: dark chocolate, espresso, burnt caramel, nutmeg and a bit of cinnamon.
Taste : consistent with the aroma, dark chocolate, espresso, orange zest, nutmeg, allspice and a trace of hops.
Finish : medium long, with notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
