Product description
James Power, an innkeeper from Dublin, established small distillery in 1791.
In the late 19th Century, the family produced over 4 million liters of spirit per annum and was one of four producers dominating the Irish distilling landscape. John Power & Sons was one of the founders of Irish Distillers Group in 1966 and since 1975 Powers whiskey has been produced by Midleton Distillery. Originally pure pot still whiskey the brand was reformulated as a blend with high pot still content. Powers Gold Label is a blend of triple distilled single pot still and grain whiskeys aged from five to six years exclusively in white American oak barrels. In 2020 the brand changed label design, which now includes the iconic red Powers diamond “P”. In the original distillery the diamond P was everywhere – on the casks, on bills and receipts and workers at the John’s Lane Distillery even wore a diamond P on their lapel.
