The Old & Rare Platinum range was introduced by Douglas Laing & Co. in 2002. It included rare and well-aged single cask whiskies bottled at natural strength and without chill-filtration.
First releases were bottled exclusively for the Japanese market but soon the range became available for the European whisky collectors and aficionados. The 30 years old expression of Port Ellen released in August 2010 comprises whisky distilled in November 1979 and aged in refill hogshead. It is a cask strength bottling (53.3% abv) limited to 260 bottles.
