Bruichladdich 2001 Resurrection Dram / 46% / 0.7l
- In 2000 Murray McDavid, Independent Whisky Bottler, acquired mothballed Bruichladdich Distillery.
Product description
In 2000, private whisky publisher Murray McDavid purchased the idle Bruichladdich Distillery.
Built in 1881 by the Harvey brothers, the distillery suspended production several times in the 20th century, and the whisky produced there was said to be popular with local residents, but not with blenders. The owners entrusted the position of master distiller to Jim McEwan, a charismatic ambassador for Bowmore, and soon Bruichladdich became a place of pilgrimage for whisky lovers. The Bruichladdich Resurrection presented here is the first whisky distilled by Jim (October 2001), dedicated to the Harvey brothers. The master used slightly peated malt (10 ppm) and filled barrels made of American oak with the distillate. The edition hit the market in 2008 and consisted of 24 thousand bottles.
