Product description
Powerscourt Distillery Company was established in 2017 and a year later, in December, it officially began distilling whisky.
The distillery is located on the Slazenger estate of Powerscourt in County Wicklow, and is owned by four local businessmen, in addition to the Slazengers. The distillery is equipped with three copper stills and produces over a million litres of distillate per year. Most of the Fercullen editions are based on whiskey (malt and grain) from the Cooley Distillery. This whiskey, the second part of the Estate Series triptych, is an interesting blend of 19-year-old single malt whiskey finished in Amarone casks (20%) and 12-year-old single grain whiskey (80%). This limited edition (6,000 bottles) from 2022 is inspired by the so-called "Italian garden" located on the Powerscourt estate.
Nose: fruity, cherries, red currants, raspberries, strawberries, vanilla, honeyed cereal, cinnamon, lemon pepper and toasted oak.
Palate: sweet cereals, honey, vanilla, multi-berry jam, dried figs, mocha, cinnamon, a touch of cloves and nutmeg and a light bitterness of oak.
Finish : quite long, with notes of red berries, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, a pinch of pepper and oak tannins.
