Jack Wiebers (Lars-Göran Wiebers) is a German whisky importer and distributor based in Berlin (the official name of the company is Jack Wiebers Whisky World).
Wiebers began his career in 1999 and soon established a reputation as a great selector and publisher of whiskies. His portfolio includes several series, including Whisky Castle (discontinued in 2013), Old Train Line, Prenzlow Portfolio Collecton, Great Ocean Liners and Wanted (the latter reserved for Bowmore single malt). The Blair Athol on display here, distilled in December 1988, spent nearly three decades in bourbon cask no. 4873. Bottled at cask strength (49.1% abv) in March 2017 as part of the Old Train Line series in an edition of 252 bottles.
Nose: fruity and floral, spring meadow, honeydew melon, cherries, nectarines, orange peel, vanilla, honey, violet liqueur, candied ginger and toasted oak.
Palate : vanilla cream, toffee, honey, orange jam, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, ginger biscuits, cinnamon, mint leaf and light oak bitterness.
Finish: quite long, with notes of toffee, vanilla, orange peel, white pepper, ginger, cinnamon and oak.
