Ardmore Distillery was built in 1898 by William Teacher & Sons to ensure a regular supply of malt distillate for Teacher's own blender .
Currently, the plant belongs to the Beam Suntory concern and produces about 5.5 million liters of alcohol per year. Legacy is the first edition of Ardmore to use Ardlair distillate, a completely "unpeated" distillate produced since the beginning of the century for blending . Its share is 20%. Legacy debuted in 2014 and temporarily replaced the Traditional Cask version.
Nose: sweet and smoky, toffee, vanilla, apples, peat smoke, traces of pepper and cinnamon.
Taste: mild, a mixture of sweet and savory flavors, caramel, honey, cooked apples, peat and oak.
Finish: medium long, malty, sugary sweetness wrapped in peat smoke.
