Product description
In early 2016, William Grant & Sons introduced a new line of blended whiskies, Grant's Elementary . It consists of three whiskies dedicated to the three key elements in its production – carbon, oxygen and copper.
All whiskies are bottled with an age statement, which corresponds to the position of the element in the Periodic Table of Elements. Carbon , the sixth element in the table, is found in peat and in the charred layer of oak that forms as a result of barrel burning. It is also a key element in the palette of smoked and peated whiskies. Grant's Elementary 6 years old is a blend of malt and grain whiskies. It includes both "peated" distillates and those aged in barrels with heavily charred interiors. (Tasting notes provided by the producer.)
Aroma: peat smoke, followed by ripe fruit, traces of coconut and sweet toffee.
Taste : mild, creamy oak bitterness balanced by a hint of smoke and charcoal.
Finish: relaxing, rich sweetness complemented by subtle peat notes.
