Product description
For almost the entire 20th century, Johnnie Walker's core offering alternated between Red Label and Black Label versions. The 1990s brought a change, and to this day, the company continues to offer new editions in virtually every price segment.
Johnnie Walker Double Black officially debuted in 2011 after a short period of exclusive distribution in the Travel Retail network. It is composed of basically the same components as the standard Black Label, but a larger share of smoke-peat distillates in the formula and the use of heavily burned barrels mean that the finished blend has a more intense palette of flavors and a longer finish. While Black Label is composed of components aged for at least 12 years, the Double Black version does not bear an age statement.
Aroma: smoky, slightly hospital, cigar ash, barley malt, roasted almonds, vanilla, honey, traces of pine resin and tar.
Palate : slightly oily, peat smoke, vanilla pudding, sweet cereals, salted butter, pepper, traces of tar and charcoal.
Finish: fairly long, with notes of cereal, vanilla, licorice, peat smoke, ash and charred oak.
