Product description
The Old Smuggler whisky formula was developed by brothers James and George Stodart, whisky brokers since 1835.
Perhaps because of its name (smuggler), this whisky was one of the most sought-after in the States during Prohibition. Hiram Walker & Sons took over the brand in 1930, and in 1987, all of their assets were transferred to Allied Distillers. Since 2005, Old Smuggler has been owned by the Italian Gruppo Campari, which purchased it along with the Glen Grant distillery and the Braemar blend for 115 million euros. The current formula is built around Glen Grant and Glenburgie malts. Old Smuggler is available in over 20 countries, and is most popular in Argentina, the US, and Eastern Europe.
