Product description
In 1952 the Merano wine growers joined together to found the Meran Cellar cooperative with the task to improve the wine quality and increase the sales.
It was a healthy and distinguished wine making operation with over 200 members and a cultivated area of 140 hectares. The turning point in Meran history came in 1992 with appointing Stefan Kapfinger to cellar master position. He did great job finding the right grape variety for each location as well as increasing quality of the wines produced. In July 2010 one more merger took place, Meran Cellar joined forces with another cooperative, Burggräfler Winery (founded 1901). The new formation called Meran Burggräfler Winery has 380 members and 260 hectares of vineyards and markets its top range under the new Meran brand. The new classic line Festival includes six white and six red wines and one rosé.
Meran Festival Merlot-Cabernet 2016 is made with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet grapes grown in vineyards of Merano located at 300-400 meters above sea level. The wine has rich garnet red color; on the nose it displays intense aromas of Morello cherries, blackberries and black currants. Soft and warm on the palate, with juicy cherry fruit, balanced acidity and rounded tannins. The wine makes excellent pairing with game, grilled ribs, burgers and hard cheese. Serving temperature 15-16ºC. Ready to drink from now through 2022.
