Product description
The beginnings of the brand date back to 1790, when the 25-year-old son of a Scottish carpenter, with money borrowed from his father, founded a wine company in London. From the beginning of his business, George Sandeman specialized in port and sherry, eventually building an impeccable reputation that lasts to this day. He was the first to mark barrels of wine with his initials, which was a guarantee of the origin and quality of the products sold. Over time, the company changed its headquarters, always choosing places where its wines had ideal conditions for maturing, even buying a building in Porto, in whose cellars the barrels matured before being shipped to the islands. In the mid-19th century, he started "tawny" wines, and having ideal conditions for storing large quantities of barrels, it is still a recognized model in the production of tawny port, awarded many times over the years. Also during the many years of the company's development, the owners attached great importance to their brand, registering it in England in 1877. The brand's logo, the famous "The Don", dates back to 1928 and still adorns all Sandeman wine labels.
Today, the company continues to thrive, investing in the hotel industry in addition to its vineyards. In 2015, it celebrated its 225th anniversary by releasing a limited edition port. It is also worth mentioning that in 2019, Quinta de Seixo port received 100 points out of 100 from Wine Enthusiast in the United States.
Sandeman Fino Sherry / 15% / 0.75l
Young fino sherry, aged in small barrels in the Solera system under the lees of yeast, for at least 3 years. It has a beautiful straw-yellow color, with reflections of green and gold. Very fresh on the nose, lots of peach accents with green apple, very nicely rounded by vanilla accents. On the palate delicate, well balanced, pleasantly acidic. Finish moderately long, with delicate fruit accents.
It tastes best chilled, served at a temperature of 6-8 degrees. It goes well with salty appetizers, or simply as an aperitif, but it also works well with seafood, as well as sushi or oriental cuisine.
