Product description
In the fall of 2018 William Grant & Sons, the owners of Glenfiddich and Balvenie, introduced new single malt whisky, Aerstone.
The whisky is most likely distilled in Ailsa Bay Distillery and comes in two expressions – Land Cask and Sea Cask, both bottled at 10 years of age. According to the company master distiller and the brand creator Brian Kinsman “we have developed two very different and evocative flavor profiles under one brand, both inspired by the Scottish environment and raw elements where we age our whisky”. Aerstone Land Cask was distilled from barley malted with Scottish Highland peat and “matured further inland”.
Nose: peat smoke, barbecued meats, brine, black pepper, vanilla, toffee, lemon peel, oak and hints of pencil shavings.
Palate: peat smoke and hints of tar, pepper, black olives, vanilla, butterscotch, lemon peel, touch of green apples and oak.
Finish: medium long, with heavy notes of peat smoke, smoked meats, dash of brown sugar and oak.
