Product description
Glenfiddich Private Vintage Selection is a one-of-a-kind, highly prestigious collection of single cask whisky editions, personally selected by legendary malt master David Stewart.
The 1958 Private Vintage presented here is the crème de la crème of this series. Distilled the year the distillery last malted barley itself, it spent almost a quarter of a century in barrel no. 8642. Bottled in 2006 at 46.3% abv in an edition of 201 bottles. The whole thing is completed by an elegant cherry wood box, an attribute of the high standards set by the distillery owners. Of course, the claim that this whisky was distilled from barley malted on site is impossible to prove today.
Nose: rich and elegant, nutmeg, cinnamon, polished oak, baking chocolate, dried apricots and pears, honey, vanilla and a hint of leather polish.
Palate: refined notes of sherry and oak, dark chocolate, dried plums, figs and raisins, honeyed almonds, nutmeg, hints of pepper and cedar.
Finish: quite long, with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, nutmeg, a bit of dried fruit and a pleasant oak bitterness.
