Product description
It could be said that Bowmore 12 years old has been part of Bowmore's core range "since forever".
The distillery’s official website states that this whisky “is the pure quintessence of Bowmore – crashing waves, windswept countryside and centuries of tradition (…) vanilla ice cream served by a dying beach fire.” The 12-year-old on display here was bottled at the turn of the century and is incredibly hard to find today. Today, Bowmore Distillery is owned by Beam Suntory and is one of a handful of Scottish distilleries that malts barley on site, although its own malting plant only covers 30% of demand.
Aroma: peaty with notes of vanilla, salty sea breeze and a pinch of spices.
Palate: sweet sherry notes, honey, vanilla, dried plums and apricots, sea salt, seaweed and spices.
Finish: long, smoky, with a strong brine note.
