Product description
The Emperor rum brand is strongly rooted in the local tradition of sugar cane cultivation – introduced to Mauritius in the 17th century – and rum production, supported by successive governments, from the Dutch, through the French to the British.
It is no wonder that the symbol of the brand became George V, the English king, and at the same time the ruler of all dependent territories and the Emperor of India.
Currently, there are six distilleries in Mauritius, where rum is produced according to traditional recipes, in copper stills, as well as modern systems of rectification columns. The raw material used for production here is both fresh juice squeezed from sugar cane and molasses. Emperor rums are made from carefully selected and appropriately composed rums, produced in all the above-mentioned ways.
Emperor Mauritian Rum Sherry Finish is a composition of rums produced on the basis of molasses, as well as agricole-type rums, based on fresh cane juice. It matured in oak barrels after bourbon, and spent the final maturation period in barrels after Spanish sherry. In its bouquet we find accents of dried red fruits, ripe figs, orange marmalade, sherry, coffee, dark chocolate and spices.
