Product description
The current owner, Hannes Reeh, was born into a family that began its adventure with wine in the 1980s, so he is a relatively young producer with a fresh, somewhat unconventional view of the world of wine, and he is guided by one, democratic slogan: wine is for everyone! He took over the winery in 2007 and since then has skillfully combined traditional skills with modernity and technological innovations.
The vineyard currently covers around 120 hectares of land, planted mainly with the Zweigelt grape. Thanks to the commitment of the owner and his sister Kathrin, from an initial production of 50,000 bottles in 3 years it grew to 500,000 pieces. In 2012 he built an additional cellar, where the wine is aged.
Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvee Rot 2017 / 13.5% / 0.75l
Wine produced mainly from the Zweigelt variety, with the addition of Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Laurent and Merlot, with each vintage separately determining the share of each, in order to ultimately create a wine with a well-built body, but also remaining fresh. Vinification takes place in steel tanks, then the wine is partially aged in oak barrels. On the nose it is full of aromas of dark fruits, including blueberries and blackberries, with oak accents. On the palate it is well-composed and velvety, presenting flavors of dark cherries with a touch of vanilla and nougat, all lined with soft tannin and balanced acidity. The finish is long and fresh, slightly mineral and spicy.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 16-18 degrees. It is worth decanting so that the wine has the opportunity to open up well and present all its qualities. In culinary combinations, it will work well with grilled red meats, but also roast lamb, or with dishes in heavier sauces. It will also be suitable for medium-aromatic cheeses.
