The Glenlivet 20yo Dom Whisky Collection

The Glenlivet 20yo Dom Whisky Collection

Everyone has surely heard the stories of the brave and indomitable distillery owner, George Smith of Upper Drumin in the Scottish Highlands, and his determination to face adversity and bring about fully legal production of top quality whisky on his farm. The year 1823 brought changes in the law that finally made it possible to legalize the largely clandestine production of the Scottish water of life. And since the practice was profitable, widespread, and on top of that, the laws passed at Westminster were viewed with suspicion in Scotland, it was not easy to convince Scottish distillers to follow them. So much so that supporters of legalization were looked upon as traitors, and were in real danger of being. George Smith never went anywhere without two revolvers.

Time has shown that it was the proponents of legalizing whiskey production who were right, and rewarded the most persistent ones for their efforts. It began when distilleries began to legalize en masse. In 1824 alone, more than 140 whisky factories were registered in Scotland. It soon became apparent, too, that the whisky produced at Glenlivet, as George Smith's distillery was eventually named, had earned the best reputation, and many distilleries scattered throughout the region began to add the word "Glenlivet" to their name. It has become a kind of exponent of high quality liquor. It got to the point that distilleries far from the Livet River valley (because that's exactly what the name Glenlivet means), started referring to their whisky by that name. Glenlivet came to mean "fine whisky." The story ended up in court, which ruled that other distilleries could use the Glenlivet name as a suffix, along with their original name, for example, Macallan-Glenlivet. Upper Drumin whisky, on the other hand, began using the prefix "the" in its name - The Glenlivet - thus emphasizing the exclusivity of whisky made at this particular distillery.

Today, The Glenlivet is one of the two largest single malt whisky brands in Scotland, and it chooses its partners to work with, not the other way around. As part of The Glenlivet Single Cask Programme, only carefully selected partners can receive the honor of bottling their chosen casks in the purest form of Scotch whisky known to the world - cask strength, single cask, non-chill filtered, no caramel coloring. We are pleased to announce that in cooperation with Wyborowa Pernod Ricard, House of Whisky has become just such a partner of The Glenlivet. As a result of this collaboration, we are able to offer our customers an absolutely unique edition of The Glenlivet 20yo Dom Whisky Collection.

The Glenlivet 20yo Dom Whisky Collection is a whisky distilled in September 2001, matured for 20 years in a single barrel No. 18104 bourbon barrel, bottled in the fall of 2021 as a 58.9% vol. spirit. The contents of the barrel were enough to fill 162 individually numbered bottles. The Whisky House had a wide range of distillates to choose from, both in terms of cask type and whisky age. The choice was bourbon barrel whisky aged 20 years. The final selection was made by Master Distiller of The Glenlivet himself, Allan Winchester, who also hand-signed the selection on the label of our whisky.

The whisky, which arrived these days, is one of the first two ever single cask whiskies from The Glenlivet, prepared exclusively for a partner in the Polish market. We invite you to take a look at the offer.
