Speyburn Distillery, based in Speyside, has been producing whisky since 1897. It has been owned by Inver House since 1992, and following its most recent expansion in 2014, its production capacity has increased to 4.2 million litres per year.
Speyburn 27 years old was distilled in 1973 when the distillery was owned by DCL (now Diageo). It was released in the Highland Selection series, which includes limited edition single malts from five Inver House distilleries. The casks were selected by the distillery managers.
Aroma : rich fruit, raisins, dates, figs, delicate floral and forest notes, heather, beeswax and oak.
Taste: mild and rich, dark chocolate, marzipan, dried fruit, sweet spices, oak combined with sherry.
Finish : long, with a strong oak note, honey, heather and a distant trace of peat smoke.
