Dufftown Distillery is owned by Diageo, a world leader in the production of alcoholic beverages.
In 2009, the group's bosses tasked the managers of its 27 malt distilleries with selecting one barrel of whisky from their warehouse stock, a whisky that best represented the distillery's style. The Manager's Choice series was born , offering the group's finest whiskies, bottled at cask strength . Dufftown's manager selected a reclaimed American white oak barrel, No. 8153, from which 268 bottles were filled.
Aroma : mild and sweet like a candy store, honey, vanilla, sweet citrus, apricots, a delicate note of spice.
Taste: initially sweet, vanilla, caramel, chocolate block, juicy apples and pears, slowly shows a spicy side, traces of chili pepper and ginger.
Finish: medium long, the sweetness of vanilla and caramel is soon replaced by the bitterness of oak and spices.
