Product description
Jura Distillery, separated from the Isle of Islay by a narrow strait, takes part in the annual Fèis IÌe, or Festival of Music and Whisky.
In 2014, the distillery prepared a special edition of Tastival, a whisky described as a “mystery concoction”. After a basic maturation in bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished in French oak barrels from six regions – Jupilles, Bertanges, Limousin, Tronçais, Allier and Vosges, and the final marriage took place in sherry butt casks . Tastival was created by Whyte & Mackay blender Richard Paterson. The whisky does not have an age statement, although the company assures that the youngest component was aged for 12 years. The edition consisted of 3,000 bottles.
Aroma: fruity and spicy, with delicate floral tones, apples, bananas, peaches, orange jam, honey, marzipan, ginger, traces of almonds and oak.
Palate: sweet and soft, baked apples and bananas, vanilla cream, caramel, honey, ginger, cinnamon, walnuts, notes of licorice and bitterness of oak.
Finish: quite long, spicy-oaky, with notes of ginger, pepper and nuts.
