Product description
Ardbeg TEN 10-Year-Old Cask Strength 61.7% is a limited edition that was originally available exclusively in Japan in 2000. For the past 20 years, it has been of great interest to Ardbeg Committee members, as evidenced by numerous inquiries about its reintroduction to the market. Wanting to celebrate another quarter century of the 10YO version and respond to the Committee's expectations, the distillery decided to make this special edition available again.
The whisky is matured in hand-selected bourbon barrels and has been bottled at a natural high strength of 61.7%, giving it even more intensity and highlighting Ardbeg's classic peaty character. Concentrated flavor profile and elevated alcohol content allow you to fully experience the depth of this Islay.
This is the first edition of the Committee presented under the leadership of Master Blender Gillian MacDonald and Distillery Manager Bryony McNiven, further emphasizing its importance in the brand's history.
Color: Light gold.
Aroma: Rich, earthy, smoky and spicy, with a wonderful combination of toffee, tar and creosote, coffee grounds and sea breeze. Subtle notes of vanilla and lime pierce through the smoke, while a few drops of water release classic Ardbeggian aromas such as fennel and campfire embers.
Taste: The texture is full-bodied and distinctly spicy, and the palate surprises with an immediate and intense sweetness, reminiscent of smoked cinnamon and paprika. Then you sense powerful waves of smoky notes - soot, tar, creosote, peat and wood smoke, to name a few. However, the smokiness is always balanced by a delicate malt-biscuit aftertaste.
Finish: The aftertaste is menthol and almost cooling, with notes of eucalyptus.
