Kingsbarns Distillery was founded by the Wemyss family in 2014 after tremendous success of their Wemyss blended malt whisky range.
The family has longstanding passion for malt whisky and connections with the industry dating back to the turn of the 19th Century when John Haig built Cameronbridge Distillery on their land. Kingsbarns filled the first casks in the early March 2015 and the brand was launched in the summer of 2018. The distillery is equipped with a single pair of stills and currently produces 200,000 liters of spirit per annum running at 30% capacity. Kingsbarns Doocot was introduced in the spring of 2023 marketed as the “natural evolution” of Kingsbarns Dream to Dram. The whisky was aged in ex-bourbon casks (90%) and STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) casks (10%).
Nose: butterscotch, vanilla, buttery pastry, honey, peaches, pears, bananas, pineapples, lemon grass, and delicate floral notes.
Palate: sweet and fruity, vanilla cream, pralines, white chocolate, peaches, apricots, banana bread, hints of candied ginger and white pepper.
Finish: medium long, with notes of ripe summer fruits, sweet pastry, vanilla, marzipan, lemon grass and hints of oak.
