Product description

Founded in 1988 by Andrew and Brian Symington, Signatory Vintage is today a leading independent publisher and distributor of whisky.

Few remember that Symington started with just £100,000 and nearly went bankrupt several times in the first five years of operation. The name "Signatory" means Signatory and Symington intended to hire someone famous to sign each edition with his signature on the label. The first cask of whisky in the Signatory range was Glenlivet 1968, but before the company found the right signatory, there was no trace of the whisky. The Whitlaw single malt presented here (Whitlaw Hills are the hills near Highland Park Distillery), distilled June 2013, spent 9 years in first and second fill sherry casks and was bottled at 43% abv in December 2022.

Nose : milk chocolate, heather honey, caramel, dried cranberries, roasted peanuts, black pepper, a bit of tobacco and a hint of smoke in the background.

Palate: honeyed breakfast cereals, brown sugar, roasted nuts, blackcurrant jam, rhubarb cake, black pepper, notes of oak and peat.

Finish : medium long, with notes of milk chocolate, mocha, red berries, pepper, a bit of ginger and peat.
