Product description
While much has changed since the founder Don Andrés Brugal came to the Dominican Republic in 1888, the Brugal family still makes their rum the same way.
From plantation to bottle, every drop is distilled, filtered and barreled by the family, creating a distinctly different, fresh, dry rum. Today’s Maestro Roneros or Master Blenders are the 4th and 5th generation of the Brugal family. They have been perfecting the molasses used to make their rums for 125 years, so they know it inside out. All of the rums are double distilled, in the town of San Pedro de Macorix. The rums mature in a variety of oak barrels, carefully selected by the cellar master. As the rum matures, it absorbs the colors and aromas of the barrels.
Brugal 1888 Gran Reserva Familiar Rum is a rum aged for 14 years in bourbon and sherry barrels, in a double maturation process. The year 1888 in the name of the drink is the year the family company was founded in the Dominican Republic. In its bouquet we find accents of spices, chocolate, roasted notes, cinnamon, dried fruit, caramel, oak and licorice.
