Founded in 1899 in Osaka by Torii Shinjiro, Suntory initially traded in imported wines. In 1923, construction began on the first whisky distillery in Japan, Yamazaki.
For many years the company was called Kotobukiya, and the name was changed to Suntory only in 1963. Currently, Suntory Holdings owns many brands of various types of alcoholic beverages, beers and soft drinks. Among Japanese whiskies, the most important brands belonging to Suntory, or rather its subsidiary Beam Suntory, are Yamazaki, Hakushu and Hibiki. Suntory Special Reserve is a blended malt whisky, composed of malt distillates produced in distilleries belonging to Suntory.
Aroma: Sweet, with accents of oak, apples, vanilla, coconut and malt.
Taste: Strong and decisive, creamy and oily, with accents of apples, apricots, vanilla, butter cookies and oak.
Finish : Medium length, creamy and pleasant.
