Product description
The Macallan Distillery was registered in 1824 by Alexander Reid.
Originally called Elchies, it was not until 1892 that new owner Roderick Kemp changed it to The Macallan-Glenlivet (the “Glenlivet” suffix was removed in 1982). The Macallan 7 years old debuted in the early 1980s. The whisky was aged in sherry casks and bottled exclusively for the Italian importer, Giovinetti & Figli of Milan. (Armando Giovinetti, who brought Glen Grant to Italy in the 1970s, is considered to be the creator of the whisky market in that country.) At the time, Italians preferred young single malts, and The Macallan competed effectively with 5-year-olds from Aberlour, Glen Grant and Balblair. The Macallan 7 years disappeared from the offer at the beginning of the new millennium.

Taste : pleasantly balanced, although not too complex, apples, oranges, plums, honey, tobacco leaves, hazelnuts, cocoa and pepper.
Finish : medium long, malty, slightly nutty, oak combined with sherry and pepper.
