Product description
Corsair Artisan Distillery was founded in 2008 by two Nashville residents, Derek Bell and Andrew Webber.
Because Tennessee law prohibited such activity, Bowling Green in neighboring Kentucky was chosen. (A sister distillery and brewery opened in Nashville two years later after the law changed.) Corsair experiments a lot, but the most popular so far has been their Triple Smoke Single Malt. This whiskey is distilled from three batches of barley, malted using beechwood, cherrywood, and peat. The malts are then blended and put through the next stages of the production cycle. After a second distillation, the whiskey is placed in small, 15-gallon charred oak barrels for about 10 months.
Nose: campfire smoke, barley malt, caramel, vanilla, toffee, cherries, orange drops, mint leaf and charred oak.
Palate: caramel, vanilla, milkshake, cherry pie, cocoa powder, a dash of barbecue sauce and charred oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of smoke and charred oak, barley malt, brown sugar and black pepper.
