Product description
The Glenfarclas distillery, built in 1836 by Robert Hay on Rechlerich Farm, near the town of Ballindalloch, has belonged to the Grant family since 1865.
Its name translates from Gaelic to “valley of green grass.” Glenfarclas is one of a handful of distilleries that age most of its spirits in sherry casks and do not use fresh bourbon casks. The 21-year-old, which has been in the company’s lineup for years, is paired with a significant preponderance of sherry cask spirits.
Nose: Slightly milder sherry tones than the younger versions, hazelnuts, toffee, vanilla, mint, juniper berries, coconut flakes, apples and a hint of peat.
Taste: Complex, nutty, spicy with a delicate malt note, honey, cinnamon, raisins, caramelized orange peel, hints of oak and peat smoke.
Finish: Long, nutty with malt notes, oak bitterness and hints of peat.
