Product description
In the 19th century, the Dant family was one of Kentucky's most renowned bourbon producers. J.W. (Joseph Washington) Dant began distilling in Marion County, Kentucky around 1835.
In time, the sons joined the family business. The greatest professional success was achieved by Joseph Bernard, the creator of the Yellowstone brand, which gained huge popularity on the west coast of the United States. During Prohibition, JW Dant bourbon was stored in a federally supervised warehouse of the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville and sold on prescription as "medical whiskey". After the prohibition was repealed, the brand changed owners several times and finally ended up in the Heaven Hill portfolio. The Old Style Whiskey presented here is not bourbon, in its composition distillates aged in refilled barrels were used.
