Product description
Westland Distillery, founded in 2010 by Matt Hoffmann and Emerson Lamb, is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
Since its inception, production has increased from five barrels of distillate per week to six barrels per day. In late 2016, Westland Distillery was acquired by Rèmy Cointreau, who had acquired Bruichladdich four years earlier. Westland Single Malt debuted in 2013 and won six gold medals at various international whisky shows within three years. The Westland Single Malt presented here is the distillery’s current signature whiskey, made from five different malts, with a predominance of local pale malt, and aged for at least 40 months in American oak barrels (first and second fill) and sherry hogsheads and butts.
Nose: barley malt, vanilla, toffee, sweet bread, peaches, strawberries, orange peel, milk chocolate, mulled wine spice and a hint of peat.
Palate: sweet breakfast cereals, vanilla, caramel, orange jam, apples, cherries, nougat, mocha, a pinch of white pepper and a fleeting trace of smoke.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted nuts, a touch of cloves, cinnamon and peat.
