Product description
The Ben Nevis Distillery, built by Long John MacDonald, commenced operation in 1825 and remained in family ownership until 1941.
It currently belongs to the Nikka group and almost 75% of its annual production of around 2 million liters of distillate is sent to Japan, where it is matured and used to create the company's blends. This is why the supply of this single malt has remained negligible in recent years. The single cask edition presented here was intended for the German contractor Alambic Classique. The whisky, distilled in October 1996, spent two decades in a bourbon hogshead cask (no. 1440), and was bottled at 51.5% abv in April 2017. 236 bottles were released for sale.
