Product description
The small Caribbean island of Trinidad once boasted as many as 50 rum distilleries. The Caroni distillery was founded in 1918 on the site of an old sugar mill.
The distillery used both traditional stills and column stills, and the rum produced there was heavy, just right for supplying the British Navy. In 2001, the distillery was sold to Angostura, and closed for good the following year. Caroni rum was given a second life by Luca Gargano's visit to Trinidad in 2004, when he discovered a forgotten warehouse of barrel-aged rum.
Caroni 1998 Balas Brigade Bhaggan is a rum blended from 6 American bourbon oak barrels that matured entirely in Trinidad. Dedicated to Balas Bhaggan, who spent 14 years working at Caroni. The rum was bottled in 2020 in its natural form - without chill filtering, without coloring, without additives, without dilution.
