Product description
Glenmorangie Distillery is the undisputed leader in the field of finishing whisky.
The first edition of this type hit the market in 1987 and was the now legendary 1963 Vintage finished in Oloroso sherry butt casks. Since the late 90s, the basic offer has listed four "finishes" (Sherry, Port, Madeira and Burgundy), alongside which limited editions have appeared. The whisky presented here in 1996, after 13 years of maturation in American oak casks, was transferred to Fino sherry casks for about two years. Fino is a very dry, slightly salty sherry produced from the Palomino grape variety.
Aroma: delicate, slightly mineral, walnuts in shell, barley malt, mustard seeds, damp hay, lemon peel, notes of vanilla, wax and oak.
Palate: roasted nuts, lemons, grapefruit, white pepper, ginger, toasted sesame seeds, vanilla, oak and a pinch of sea salt.
Finish: quite long, with notes of salted nuts, white pepper, lemon and orange peel and oak.
