- In April 2013 Aceo Ltd, a cask whisky broker, acquired Murray McDavid brand.
Product description
In April 2013, Murray McDavid was acquired by Aceo Ltd, a whisky broker based in the disused Coleburn Distillery.
Soon, a new range of six series hit the market: Mission Gold, Benchmark, Select Grain, The Vatting, Crafted Blend and Mystery Malt. The latter is unnamed, although in the case of Mulben Moor, the distillery is traced to Auchroisk Distillery (built in 1972 and located between Rothes and Keith). Distilled in 2010, the whisky was aged in bourbon hogsheads before being finished in first-fill Madeira casks. Bottled at 50% abv and unchill-filtered, in an edition of 1,553 bottles.
Aroma: fruity, strawberries, raspberries, candied orange peel, vanilla, milk chocolate, nut nougat, traces of pepper and tobacco.
Palate: black cherries, raspberries, almond croissants, chocolate raisins, vanilla pudding, honey, a pinch of pepper and cinnamon and a trace of oak.
Finish: medium long, fruity and nutty, with notes of mixed berry jam, sugared nuts, orange peel, pepper and oak.
