Product description
Poit Dhubh whisky debuted in 1984 in the offering of the Pràban Na Linne company based on the Isle of Skye.
The company was founded in 1976 by Sir Iain Noble, a great enthusiast of Gaelic culture and language. Noble was also a major benefactor of the Gaelic College of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, where Gaelic is the language of instruction. Poit Dhubh is a blended malt whisky of unknown formula, but we are certain that one of its main ingredients is Talisker, and a large part of the ingredients have been aged in sherry casks. “Poit Dhubh” translates to “black cauldron”, a still in moonshiners’ jargon, and the whisky is bottled without chill filtration. The 21-year-old version presented here won a gold medal at the 2015 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
