Product description
Shortly after distilling resumed at Bruichladdich in 2000, Jim McEwan came up with the idea of rebuilding the Port Charlotte Distillery (closed 1929).
The idea never came to fruition, but in May 2001 Bruichladdich distilled for the first time from malt with a phenol concentration of 40 ppm. Five years later, this whisky hit the market as Port Charlotte PC5 Evolution. In 2007, we welcomed the PC6 Cuairt-Beatha edition (Gaelic for “way of life”). This time, it was also distilled in 2001 and was blended from bourbon and Madeira casks. PC6 was bottled at cask strength (61.6% abv), and 18,000 bottles were distributed.
