Product description
Wemyss is the Lowland family directly descended from the Celtic nobility through the Macduff Earls of Fife.
However not directly involved in the whiskey trade until the 21st Century the family can claim their place in whisky history – in 1824 John Haig built Cameron Bridge Distillery on the Wemyss’ land. Wemyss Malts was founded in 2005 as an Independent Bottling Company. In 2014 they launched their first blended whisky, Lord Elcho, named after the eldest son of the 5th Earl of Wemyss, one of the most celebrated supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie during the ill-fated Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, consequently stripped of his land and titles for his involvement in the uprising. Lord Elcho is a premium blend with malt content of minimum of 40%. It scored number of awards including silver medal at the 2016 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
