Product description
For many years Ardmore whisky has been considered “blender’s malt”. Indeed, William Teacher & Son founded the distillery in 1898 in order to supply malt for the increasingly popular family blend.
The first official bottling, Traditional Cask, was introduced in 2007, two years after Jim Beam International took over the distillery. Ardmore 12 years old Port Wood Finish was released in 2015 and contains whisky aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished in port half pipes. Ardmore is fairly big Highland distillery, one of the very few in the region that never stopped using peated malt for its whiskies.
Nose: earthy with gentle peaty and smoky notes, cranberries, strawberry jam, raisins, milk chocolate, caramel, hints of cinnamon and honey.
Palate: nice combination of peaty and earthy notes, caramel and honey; raisins, apples, cranberry relish, candied orange peel and touch of cinnamon.
Finish: medium long, initially sweet and fruity, soon becoming spicy and ashy.
