The new face of Glenglassaugh

The new face of Glenglassaugh

Glenglassaugh Distillery announces the launch of its new core range. The existing editions will have to be replaced by new ones, and these will be offered in a revised layout.

The three new Glenglassaugh editions that make up the distillery's core offering are Glenglassaugh 12yo, Glenglassaugh Sandend and Glenglassaugh Portsoy. All three are the work of Brown Forman's Cupid Master Dr. Rachel Barrie, all matured in warehouses on the shores of Sandend Bay, and their character reflects this location.

Glenglassaugh 12yo, 45% vol., is the new flagship in the distillery's portfolio. The whisky was put together from distillates matured in bourbon, sherry and red wine casks. The detliaction price of a single bottle has been set at £50.

Glenglassaugh Sandend, 50.5% vol., takes its name from the sea bay on which the distillery is located. It is a whisky with no age statement, and its individual components were matured in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla sherry casks. Retail price is £55 per bottle.

Glenglassaugh Portsoy, 49.1% vol., whisky without an age declaration, named after the nearest village. It was put together from whiskies aged in bourbon, sherry and port casks. Retail price is £60 per bottle.

The distillery also announces the release of old limited editions, even from the 1960s. i 70. of the last century to be released later this year. It is worth remembering that Glenglassaugh, founded in 1874, operated continuously only until 1907, when production was halted for more than half a century. Its complete reconstruction and restarting did not take place until 1960. Unfortunately, the overproduction crisis of the early 1980s. In the 1980s, this resulted in its subsequent closure in 1986. Through the Scaent group, it was restored and relaunched in 2009. Therefore, we can expect to see in its range either very old whiskies, dating back to the second half of the 20th century and waiting for their turn in the distillery's warehouses, or young whiskies, produced mainly only in the second decade of the 21st century.

Glenglassaugh is one of three distilleries run by Billy Walker and, as it were, reintroduced by him to the market. The other two are Glendronach and Benriach. All three were bought by U.S. conglomerate Brown-Forman in 2016, and Rachel Barrie, once responsible for m.in. for Glenmorangie whisky.

The current offerings of the House of Whisky Online include the full current basic glenglassaugh portfolio, old, vintage editions, as well as items from independent distributors. The new Glenglassaugh bottles will also appear with us soon, according to the manufacturer's announcement. So it's worth keeping an eye on our news section. Please visit.
