Talisker Elements 27yo

Talisker Elements 27yo

The season of travel is approaching, including traveling to Scotland and visiting the distilleries there. For some time, one of the highlights of such visits has been to stock up on a special edition whisky, available only to guests of the distillery. Manufacturers are trying to meet the growing demand, and are doing their best to make such offerings as attractive as possible to visitors to their distilleries.

Diageo, owner of m.in. of the Lagavulin, Oban and Mortlach distilleries, seems to realize like few others the potential of whisky tourism. The company has recently invested tens of millions of pounds in upgrading and expanding the tourist parts of Cardhu, Glenkinchie, Caol Ila and Clynelish, weaving them into a network of marketing support for the company's flagship tourism venture, The Johnnie Walker Experience, recently opened on Princes Street in the heart of Edinburgh.

Those visiting one of the corporation's more remote distilleries, yet located in perhaps the most picturesque area, Talisker on the Isle of Skye, will get quite a treat this season. For here it is, the release of a new Distillery Exclusive edition has been announced, a whisky that stands out for its quite rightful age among other such offerings. We are talking about Talisker Elements 27yo, which will soon be offered by the distillery.

Talisker Elements 27yo is a whisky matured in a combination of three types of casks. These include refill barrels, barrels intensely fired from the inside and puncheon type barrels made of European oak. Whisky bottled without dilution, in cask strength form, which in this case is 58% vol. Power quite impressive for the 27 years the distillate has spent in barrels. The whisky, as emphasized in its name, is meant to be a nod to the elements surrounding the site of its creation and maturation - the mighty waves of the ocean, the jagged, rocky coastline, the devastating storms, but also the beautiful blue skies on clear days, and the coastal aromas of the.

The edition is limited to 2,000 bottles. Talisker Elements 27yo is available in the distillery's store, priced at £495 per bottle.

The Talisker Distillery is situated on the shores of Loch Harport Bay on what is considered to be the most scenically picturesque island of Skye in the Inner Hebrides. Its coastal character is emphasized by the manufacturer with the slogan "made by the sea", placed on the labels of the liquor. The ten-year edition of the whisky produced here debuted in 1988, being one of six elements of the Classic Malts of Scotland series launched at the time. Talisker 10yo, still the core of the distillery's core offering today, represented the Scottish islands at the time and was instrumental in popularizing not only the single malt whisky category, but also allowed consumers to become accustomed to the peaty and maritime character of some Scotch whiskies, which is not easy on first perception. Over time, it has proven to be one of the greatest assets of whisky produced at Scottish distilleries located on islands or on the coast on the mainland.

Despite its remote location and not inconsiderable difficulty in reaching Talisker, the distillery is regularly visited by huge crowds of tourists, as it is one of the many tourist attractions on this beautiful island, offering visitors a breathtaking experience - from the cascades of Fairy Pools among the rocky peaks of the Cuillin Mountains, to the rock formations of Storr and Quiraing, to Dunvegan Castle. Until recently, Talisker was the island's only distillery attraction, but for the past few years there has been another whisky maker, Torabhaig, located in the southeastern part of Skye. From Sconser harbor you can also take a ferry trip of several minutes to the neighboring islet of Raasay, where another "young generation" distillery, Isle of Raasay, also began operating not long ago. The Isle of Skye and its immediate surroundings have been experiencing a real tourist renaissance in recent years, so when planning a visit there, it is worth thinking about making all the necessary reservations well in advance of the planned date. You can also travel from the port of Uig on Skye to the Isle of Harris, one of the more magical places in the Outer Hebrides archipelago.

Those interested in discovering the maritime character of Talisker whisky, but not planning to travel to its very source, the Isle of Skye, are advised to visit the House of Whisky Online store. In Talisker's permanent offer you will find a wide selection of whisky editions, including rare, limited and collector's specimens, but also whisky for everyday evening relaxation with a glass full of delicate peat smoke, notes of seaweed and sea breeze.
