GlenDronach Grandeur Batch #11

Owned by the U.S.-based Brown-Forman, GlenDronach distillery has just released the eleventh edition of its exclusive whisky, GlenDronach Grandeur.
GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11, 58.9% vol., is a 28-year-old whisky, matured in Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry casks selected and blended by Rachel Barrie, the brand's master blender. Limited to 3181 individually numbered bottles, the edition is offered in a decorative box containing an elegant bottle with a sealed neck.
According to the producer, the bouquet of the new GlenDronach Grandeur 28yo Batch 11 offers rich notes of sherry, intertwined with accents of manuka honey, roasted almonds and walnuts. The taste also has notes of dark fruits, leather, cherries and espresso. On the finish we are likely to find touches of chocolate, licorice and walnuts.
The first edition of GlenDronach Grandeur appeared on the market in 2010, and subsequent editions hit the market successively thereafter, enjoying unflagging success and disappearing from the offerings of whisky stores in the blink of an eye. GlenDronach Grandeur Batch 11 just goes on sale. Look for it in specialized stores such as the House of Whisky Online, among others.
Founded in 1826, the GlenDronach distillery is located in Aberdeenshire, just across the eastern border of the Speyside region. The distillery is highly regarded for its premium whiskies matured in sherry casks. In 2016, along with Benriach and Glenglassaugh, it became the subject of a multimillion-dollar deal that saw the three distilleries become part of the Brown-Forman conglomerate, best known as the owner of the Jack Daniel's brand.
The distillery has a production capacity of about 2 million liters of pure alcohol per year, making it a medium-sized distillery. A few months ago, Brown-Forman announced a significant investment in GlenDrones. Plans call for a £30 million expenditure that will double the distillery's capacity. New alembics and new fermentation vats will be installed, and the traditional floor malt house will be restored to operation. According to GlenDronach's current owner, since taking over the distillery in 2016, global demand for its products has tripled. The investment in increased capacity will represent the second phase of GlenDronach's development. In 2020, extensive modernization work was carried out to serve tourists coming to the distillery for tours and highly successful tastings.
Browm-Forman invests big money not only in Scotland. Earlier, back in 2021, multimillion-dollar investments began at the Old Forester and Woodford Reserve distilleries in Kentucky.
