Bottle No. 1074
Dallas Dhu is another victim of the overproduction of the whisky market in the early 1980s. The distillery, built in 1898-1899, distilled for the last time in March 1983.
Small production capacity (750,000 litres of alcohol per year) and limited access to water made it an ideal candidate for closure during the crisis. Single malt Dallas Dhu was fairly widely available until the beginning of the new century through Gordon & MacPhail, with official releases appearing in 1995 and 1997 in the Rare Malts series . The latter is a whisky distilled in 1975, aged in bourbon barrels and bottled at 61.9% natural alcohol. In 1988, a whisky museum was opened on the site of the former distillery.
