ODIN was released in 2015 as the fourth and final chapter in The Valhalla Collection's "Orcadian quartet" .
Odin, the undivided ruler of Asgard, was the son of Bor and Bestla and the father of Thor. He is described as the “High Father”, a wise and powerful god who sacrificed one eye in exchange for access to the well of wisdom. Odin is depicted riding the heavens on his eight-legged steed Sleipnir to visit the afterlife. He also owns Valhalla, a land in Asgar where the Valkyries bring the spirits of warriors fallen in battle. Highland Park ODIN is a whisky aged for 16 years in first and refill sherry casks, and the edition offered in cask strength (55.8% abv) numbered 17,000 bottles.
Nose : spicy with strong notes of sherry, nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, roasted almonds, cherries, dried plums, oranges, traces of tobacco and peat smoke.
Taste: quite complex, slightly spicy, cinnamon, pepper, ginger, raisins, mixed nuts, chocolate-covered cherries, dried figs and dates, oak and peat.
Finish: long, fruity and spicy, pepper, ginger, dried fruit, dark chocolate, bitter oak and distant notes of peat smoke.
