Product description
Lovely old bottling of Glenburgie from the 1970s, when the distillery was owned by Hiram Walker & Sons.
It was equipped with a pair of pot stills and a pair of lomond stills (removed in 1981) and almost entire output went into blends, especially Ballantine’s. Official single malt bottlings essentially did not exist with the exception of small quantities of 5 years old destined for the Italian market. In 2004 Glenburgie (at that time owned by Allied Domecq) was demolished and then reconstructed, with only the stills and milling equipment being kept from the old distillery. Chivas Bros, who took over the following year, added another pair of stills in May 2006.
Nose: light, grassy and slightly mineral, linseed oil, apples, traces of coriander and pine resin.
Palate: malty, marzipan, eucalyptus drops, green tea, oak shavings and hints of peat smoke in the background.
Finish: fairly long, apples, green oak and fading hints of smoke.
