Product description
Nikka Black is the most popular whisky from the Asahi Group's Nikka Distilling Company portfolio with annual sales of almost 3.5 million cases. The whisky had two debuts – June 1956 and September 1965.
While the original Black was a mixture of malt whisky and blending alcohol (distilled from everything that can be distilled and usually not aged), the second was made from single malt Yoichi and grain whisky from the Nishinomiya Distillery, opened in 1964 (in 1999, the distillation columns there were transported to the Miyagikyo distillery). Nikka Black Clear debuted in the mid-90s. It is the mildest whisky (bottled at 37% abv) and at the same time the most popular Nikka Black in its native Japan. The producer recommends serving it with ice or in so-called "highball drinks".
