Product description
The Tomintoul distillery buildings are situated next to the River Avon, on the 230 km2 Glenlivet Estate, which justifies the use of the suffix ‘Glenlivet’ in the whisky’s name.
The plant was built in 1964 by two whisky trading companies, which soon merged with Whyte & Mackay, a well-known blender. The single malt Tomintoul debuted timidly in 1974, but it was Angus Dundee Distillers, owner since 2000, who built a rich and diverse commercial offer. Tomintoul 14 years old debuted in 2009. This is a whisky aged exclusively in bourbon barrels, bottled without cold filtration and without the addition of coloring agents, with the alcohol content increased to 46%.
Aroma: subtle, fruity and slightly grassy, vanilla, milk fudge, bananas, pears, coconut flakes, traces of hay and walnuts.
Taste : mild, vanilla, honey, milk chocolate, sweet breakfast cereals, lemon grass, a bit of white pepper and anise and a delicate note of oak.
Finish: not too long, with notes of vanilla, lemon peel and spices.
