Product description
With annual sales of 4.3 million cases, Beefeater ranks fourth in the statistics of the most popular gins (2018).
The brand debuted in 1876, and since 2005 has been in the portfolio of the French corporation Pernod Ricard. The Beefeater 24 London Dry presented here, a creation of Desmond Payne, Beefeater master distiller and undisputed pioneer of modern gin, debuted in October 2008. Work on the development of the formula lasted 18 months. The name of the gin refers to the period of maceration of botanical ingredients in the spirit, which lasts 24 hours. In its formula, in addition to the nine basic botanical ingredients of Beefeater: juniper berries, lemon peel, Seville orange peel, almonds, coriander seeds, orris and licorice roots, angelica seeds and root, there are grapefruit slices, Japanese Sencha tea and Chinese green tea. (The father of James Burrough, creator of Beefeater gin, supplied tea to Queen Victoria's court, which inspired Desmond Payne.)
Beefeater 24 offers slightly less intense juniper tones than the standard London Dry version, more citrus notes (oranges, grapefruits and lemons) here, perfectly balanced by green tea, a touch of coriander and juniper. The flavors fully match the aromatic promise. It tastes best served in a Dry Martini with an olive or tonic.
