In 1893 John Walker & Sons purchased the Cardhu distillery from the Cumming family.
Today, Cardhu belongs to the Diageo group, and the local distillate is still the heart of Johnnie Walker blends , which "consume" about 70% of production (the remaining 30% is bottled as single malt ). In 2000, the Cardhu single malt was included for the second time in the prestigious Rare Malts series . This time it was a 27-year-old whisky, distilled in 1973, when the distillery used the Cardhow name, and bottled at a natural alcohol content of 60.02% abv. The Rare Malts series was last bottled in 2005 and its collector value is constantly growing.
