Product description
Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt is a 2005 offering from William Grant & Sons. The original formula called for three single malts from the company's distilleries (Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie) aged in bourbon casks.
Monkey Shoulder is currently blended at the Ailsa Bay distillery (also owned by William Grant) to a slightly modified recipe (the company has ceased communicating about it for some time). The name Monkey Shoulder refers to a shoulder injury that often plagued malt workers who shovel tons of barley with wooden shovels. In 2017, the brand sold 311,000 cases, which made it the 7th most popular malt whisky.
